Kudos to Media Matters for their really thorough report on the ways in which cable news distorts the immigration debate.  Fear and Loathing in Prime Time is a scathing analysis that shines a spotlight on how over the top - and often inaccurate - the cable news networks are in their coverage of the immigration debate.  The report confirms what many in the Latino community have long noticed:  that the issue of immigration has become more than a public policy debate - it has become the subject of an explosion of attention in the media which is adding heat but not shedding light on this important national issue.
