Hispanic Americans and Harassment
February 22nd, 2008
Among the growing evidence that the immigration debate has gone too far is the fact that harassment of Latinos - immigrants or not - is on the rise. We hear reports from Arizona, the home state of the Minuteman Project, that many home-grown Latinos are beginning to carry birth certificates and passports with them because they are asked so often to prove they belong in their own home towns.
Kudos to CNN for running this piece about a second generation American who was detained because the police did not believe that he wasn't an immigrant.
